Better than Grey's

Highlight of the day: A 2 year old boy had to get his blood drawn, and his dad stepped out for a minute. One of the nurses asked me to hold the boy's hand to help him relax. It was nice being able to comfort a small child in a scary situation.

Today reminded me of an episode on Grey's Anatomy. From the beginning of the day, Savannah and I were running around following a resident, Doctor Hugo. He had a 36 hour shift, which was normal at the hospital. He was running around like crazy to get everything done on time, so it meant a  lot of labs and tests. Dr. Hugo had to go from floor to floor, from office to office, just to get signatures or approval. It was a very fast paced day.

A patient was brought in by ambulance, and that was when things really started getting crazy. There were almost 10 doctors and nurses working on a child to get him stable. He came in and was not breathing on his own, nor did he have a pulse. Shortly after his arrival, his heart started beating again. I'm not exactly sure what happened because there were so many people talking at the same time while alarms were sounding. It was definitely an experience, and way more intense than anything I've ever seen on TV!
